HerStory: Caroline Drummond

Biography of Caroline

Caroline is from a farming family in France. She moved to the UK in 2006 and to Rye in 2008.

Caroline studied engineering in Paris and then went on to work for the European Space Agency in the Netherlands in their education office, promoting science in schools

In London Caroline worked in a landscape park

When Caroline moved to Rye she worked as a SEN in a primary school after training to be a teacher here in the UK

She taught for a while but then worked for East Sussex County Council supporting students whose first language is not English. ‘I love languages, I love travelling.’

She has also worked training maths teachers on a subject knowledge course and she currently helps out at Rye College in the maths department helping students with maths.

During the Covid Pandemic she managed Rye Mutual Aid with Jen Sinclair. (There is also an interview with Jen Sinclair up on the website) They had lots of volunteers and although it was quite a challenge it was also very rewarding. They had over 3,000 requests locally and she said, ‘we really felt the weight of not making mistakes.’
